Public Housing

The Ferndale Housing Commission administers two high rise apartment buildings for the elderly/disabled and 43 family houses scattered throughout the City. The two apartment buildings -- Autumn House and Withington West -- totaling 125 units, consisting of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. The 43 scattered units vary in size and amenities, ranging from 2 to 4 bedroom homes. Currently the Commission is maintaining a three year waiting list for applicants. The waiting list is opened only once per year. Please check the notice page for a waiting list opening announcement.

Autumn House Elderly Apartments were built in 1974 as part of a joint effort between the City of Ferndale and the U. S. Department of HUD. Autumn House is owned and operating by the Ferndale Housing Commission acting by and through the City of Ferndale. Autumn House consists of 50 one bedroom apartments and 5 two bedroom apartments that are designated for the elderly and disabled.

Withington West Elderly Apartments were built in 1982 as the need for affordable housing expanded. Withington West is owned and operated by the Ferndale Housing Commission acting by and through the City of Ferndale. Withington West consists of 70 one bedroom apartments that are designated for the elderly and disabled.

The scattered site houses are dispersed throughout the City of Ferndale. The individual houses are owned and operated by the Ferndale Housing Commission acting by and through the City of Ferndale. The houses consist of 15 two bedroom, 21 three bedroom, and 7 four bedroom homes for low income families. There is a mixture of one and two story buildings.
