Use the State’s MSHDA housing locator to search for housing by geography, affordability and other factors.

Visit “Affordable Housing Online” to sign up for notifications of affordable housing waiting list openings.

Lakeshore Legal Aid may be helpful if you are having problems with a landlord or think you may need legal assistance. They offer free or low-cost legal assistance to seniors and those with low-income.

PORTABILITY

Portability is transferring your voucher to other Housing Commissions; this is done by moving outside of the jurisdiction of your current Housing Commission.

Voucher holders are allowed to transfer their vouchers anywhere in the USA.

PORT-OUTS

To Port-Out of Ferndale Housing Commission, contact your Housing Specialist to begin the port process. The Annual Recertification must be current prior to porting. You must provide the following information of the Receiving Housing Authority:

1. Name of the Portability Officer
2. Phone, fax, and email of the Portability Officer
3. Physical Address of the Receiving Housing Authority
